Asking for diagnosis tomorrow!

I'm telling my GP doctor that I think I'm autistic and going to ask her to refer me to get diagnosed tomorrow :0

I'm really nervous, I'm pretty bad at explaining my feelings (and speaking in general). Any advice/reassurance? I'd love to just show her the document I've written but my doctors surgery is only doing phone appointments, so I need to able to tell her in words!

  • Once I managed to get the word "autistic" to come out of my mouth the rest was a bit easier to say. It just all came rushing out of my mouth like I couldn't stop even if I had wanted to. It was a huge relief.

My GP actually directed me to my local adult assessment team and they had a self-referral form, so I hadn't actually needed to speak to the GP at all, but the good thing is that she was kind and agreed with me, which gave me a bit of confidence to then complete the self-referral form.
