How long to wait for NHS assment?

I would chase it up i have had multiple referrals for my children over the last 10 years + and the gps have not sent or messed up so many times ,the last one i waited 18 months to get to triage ,Then was told already had diagnose so wouldn't get one. Even though last one said needed redoing in a couple of years and that was 4 years before.

I feel your pain there. It took 6 & 10 years to get my daughters diagnosed. I ended up moving area in the end because where I lived were seemingly incapable of diagnosing ASD & intent on blaming my marriage breakdown, which actually happened after my daughter had originally been verbally diagnosed with very severe ADHD & Aspergers by them. They often make these verbal diagnoses so you think you're getting somewhere & it won't be as hard as you've heard, then bang! They pull the rug out, do a U-turn & pin it on something else! If I could have that time again I'd pay for them to be dx privately. Good luck if you're still on this fight.

They just seem to think they know best, anything rare or not textbook they mess up .They told me my deaf daughter had glue ear and was playing on it ,[got 15k compensation for that one ],Then told me my youngest had a dermoid cyst and wanted to try new experimental treatment ,that was after been turned away for 3 years .But was an encephalocele a bit of brain on the outside of her skull. Had it removed just after her 3rd birthday, she is 11 now and have had no follow up ,they just say it shouldn't make any difference ,she had no short term memory at all to start with but it has started to improve lately but still not good and she is just starting to be cotenant ,but still wets herself most days. 

When i look on the net they say these problems are common with encephalocele but the doctor says they aren't . and just wants to fill her up with laxatives .Where moving soon so hopfully will see someone good or may have to go private .

Then we have one with Tourette's ,one with severe adhd and one with aspergers,"decribed as off the scale"

My wife says where not good genetic stock,but they are all so intelligent ,the youngest  even with memory problems has a wisdom and is so good at games nearly always wins which is kind of annoying really.[doesn't overthink them i suspect]
