Autism Friendships

I was chatting with my autism specialist today and she confirmed something I’ve suspected for a while... people on the spectrum tend to get on better with others on the spectrum! I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m a social disaster on all levels, but I guess it would be nice to chat with people who share similar issues. The problem I have is that my interests are pretty niche - for example wildlife, aviation and history... not exactly the stereotypical young adult male interests. I’m guessing others share this problem... or maybe not. I dunno :-/

Not sure what I’m getting at but sometimes it’s good to just air your thoughts.

  • Yes, I think this is true.

I’m a social disaster on all levels

I'm not sure I'm a social disaster, I'm just not disposed to behave in socio-neurotypical way.

  • Thank you Plastic. I do often find it very difficult to let go of things but I will stop now.

  • Then why do you feel the need to reply?      People have called me all sorts of things on here - it's part of being on a forum - disagreements happen - but it's not worth chasing it down - let it die on its own.

Also, selfishly, these long complicated threads are a pain to read and take ages to load so I lose interest in where it gets to.  Smiley

  • I'm not. I've asked him to but he's making up stuff about me calling him a facist and a communist....I asked for a line to be drawn but he's popped up again.

  • Seriously, why are you all still stirring this? - let it go.

  • I told you that after one of you two wrote "oh look, he's read some books" and that offended me. I didn't call you a facist. Not once nor a communist...not once either. But you ask me to put myself in the viewpoint of others.....you are aware that's a pretty tough thing for people with autism to do right? I'm just thinking logically; you just can't back from capital punishment. That's just my view and overwhelmingly the view of the non-right wing society as whole. I just find anyone who supports people who's first thought is to strip the vulnerable of support quite distasteful.

  • It clearly wasSmirk cat, you repeatedly told me you had an a level in history. You claimed you knew more than me about my own hypothetical scenario. You called me a fascist and a communist and other things because I don't believe in the same things as you. So what if I think capital punishment should be reintroduced in the most extreme circumstances. It doesn't mean you should mock me and my political viewpoints.

  • This is going around in circles. Talking down to you was never my intention but clearly you've interpreted it as such. We've all got different viewpoints, I would struggle to understand why such a learned gentleman would still believe in capital punishment and yes, you were talking hypothetically which, yes, would not discount any situation and perhaps I was putting too much of an emphasis on things I found and still find of particular interest. I am fascinated by anything after the Berlin conference which calved up Africa because the markets in Europe were down but as plastic says, line drawn, I'm going to get on with my pencil portraits.

  • Wow yeah you're such an expert on everything you're definitely right. I'm so offended you'd say this, the autism spectrum covers so many people. You of all people should know this

  • Oh thanks, if you purchase me a ticket I'd gladly get as far away from you as possible.

  • Just a note, I haven't discussed my view on history. What my friend and I were talking about was fictionalised accounts of history. And we were discussing hypothetical scenarios. You've completely missed the point. You were talking down to me, you thought because you have a history a level my thoughts on a hypothetical scenario were incorrect. You are entitled to your opinion, but so am I. Now that is really fascist, not being allowed to have an opinion.

  • I think Rashford is an imposter....? Not even ASD? Just a fake trolling kid.

It's fine to have strong opinions but do you really need to keep attacking 24hrs later?     Let it go......

  • I mentioned a few days ago - when you come up against people with 180 degree opposite opinions on the interwebs, just let the thread die on its own - it's not worth the fight.    It's no reason to walk away from the forum - there's lots of more useful threads on here.

  • I just find it interesting that autistic people often have a tough time interpreting what people say at the best of times but they both (Autism friendships in action I suppose) seem incredibly quick to interpret what I've said as some sense of superiority. I don't mention my qualifications in my profile, I don't mention them as they're not relevant.....except when challenged but yep. Strange.

  • I think Rashford is an imposter....? Not even ASD? Just a fake trolling kid.

  • I think you should be locked up - in a Prison somewhere in the devoloping world, say, Iran. Then you'll see youre own BS in action.

  • Problem is - these kids only know hate and anger. It is programmed into them by algorithm bias and semiosis. By their own generation of controllers - the millenials who wrote these algorithm also only know hate and anger. They are the puppet masters in todays platos cave and the cave dwellers - the millenials brought up by the puppet algorithms, only see shadows projected on the wall they are chained infront of.

They think they are making their own decisions and choices but they cant - because their minds have been hacked.

  • Well, I've asked the NAS to delete my profile as clearly these two are perfectly happy to insult someone else but get upset if someone says something they disagree with. I was never knowingly talking down to anyone. It looks to me like someone is obsessed with his view of history and hates to be challenged on it....that's not really particularly academic. But either way, they've both reported me and I've just told those checking it to look at the logs to see I didn't throw any personal insults like "ooohh P.hd friend" or "looks like he's read some books". I assumed this was a support forum for people diagnosed with autism and not some place to have a slanging match.

  • Geeza - you're so confused. It's not your fault directly though. ALL OF YOUR GENERATION are utterly screwed up one way or t'other.

It was obvious when in about 2004/5 or so you guys turned into teens. We always knew teens were a bit 'teenish' but you guys took it to another level. I realised finally at Glastonbury in 2009. The kids in late teens were all SUPER aggressive - no smiles, no good vibes, no love, AT ALL. I vowed never to go back to Glastonbury and I have been to all of them except the first. When your generation came of age the festival was full of crime,

It is because you lot have been neglected by parents addicted to social media - so YOU REALLY HAVE been brought up by an algorithm that works best on hate and evil... :(
