Access to work question

I've taken the advice of people on this forum and filled out the online form for access to work.

They emailed me today and asked me if I've told my manager that I'd contacted them. I haven't - is this an issue?

I can email her and tell her and she'll pick it up on Monday but I've just not seen her, I've just not seen her since I applied and I've not been in a position where I could email (been in areas where I didn't have access to my emails).

I did mention to her about getting external support for my autism in general and she seemed supportive in a vague way, she wanted occupational health to see me but they've once again refused her referral because they're being "selective" due to covid and I'm not having issues with absence or competence or coming in drunk or high. 

So anyway should I have told my manager about access to work? I'm only at the beginning of the process.
