Delivery Time Slots

So I should start by saying that I am very literal when it comes to punctuality... if someone gives me a time I take it literally. Last week Morrison’s were 15 minutes late with a home delivery, yesterday Sainsbury's were 75 minutes early and today DHL are supposed to deliver a parcel between 12:20 and 16:20 - its 16:14 and I am already getting crazily worked up because they only text the time slots in the morning so all my plans got changed last minute, leaving me on edge all day, now it looks like they will be late if indeed they deliver at all. Why invent time slots if nobody keeps to them?!?!?!

I don’t think I’m asking anything as the question above I’d rhetorical. I just needed to air this though people are welcome to discuss.  It’s now 16:17 - 3 minutes to go - this isn’t looking good.

  • The quality of delivery is not only its timeliness but also its accuracy. In other words, the customer needs to be delivered on time in the volume and assortment he ordered. Often, when working with large chains, the manufacturer must assemble an order for shipment from a variety of represented items, and it must be done as quickly as possible. To control the delivery of my parcels, I use the best parcel site! The problem of forming the assortment is solved at the picking area. At the same time, the timeliness of delivery depends not only on the professionalism of the specialists who compose the order but also on the qualification of the transport department employees. But I am not interested in this as a customer!

  • The courier company had my mobile number as they sent me the automated text. When it was clear it was going to be as late as it was their customer service could have sent me a message to update me, even if it didn’t have a new time but said it was going to be late with an apology... I would have still been anxious and stressed but at least informed.

  • This is one of my pet hates with lots of things including meetings, job interviews, appointments, deliveries. Sometimes it can't be avoided but sometimes it is just rude to leave us waiting. When I have something like this my anxiety is up for the whole day before it and then at most when the time has arrived and they are not there

  • It’s so frustrating - sadly DHL didn’t seem to have that on their tracking page. Also they are supposed to notify you when you are the next stop, that didn’t happen either. I think I may do what you suggested and ask before I buy.  I too hate it when people don’t reply to messages - had it on eBay, they ignored me until I opened a case against them!

  • I email sellers and ask who they use if they don't say on their page before i put my order in

  • Don't they have a map like DPD?  like shows marker for your house and delivery driver says something like 'Martin is doing stop 56 you are number 59. He is 15mins away' or something like that?

I don't mind them cos I can understand that if he got stuck in traffic or he seems to be stuck a long time at number 57 cos maybe they went out so he couldn't deliver ( I imagine they have to make a record of this on their devices so slowing them down a bit).

What annoys me more is when people who know me are DELIBERATELY ALWAYS  late despite knowing I prefer to be on time, because that feels like they have no respect for me and my beliefs especially if I know that they know i have autism but they still do it cos they don't care!

or the company that has caused me frustration because they didn't answer any messages for over a week  (5) until a message had been put on their FB page for everyone to see ...suddenly when they think others might not buy from them if messages don't get answered my message is important! and answered immediately and publicly for everyone to see they reply instantly! ..but it wasn't last week when I was desperate to know where my parcel was but they couldn't be bothered to answer (and it was private email so no-one else could see if wasn't been answered)...stuff like that really annoys the hell out of me!

  • Or they call and say they are 5 minutes away which doesn’t allow enough time.

  • What's more annoying is when they say that the engineer will call 1st thing to give me a more accurate time - but they NEVER do.      They always claim they had the wrong number or that I didn't answer - and liars make me even more agitated.

  • I totally get that and the irony is that they probably already know roughly what time you are scheduled for - so they could have told you. It’s deeply frustrating - I’m vowing to boycott whoever I can that exacerbates my traits. As a result UK Mail and DHL won’t ever receive my custom... sadly I can’t stop people using them to send stuff to me.

  • See I totally get that - I am always ridiculously punctual so I’d have been there by 11:45 then felt foolish for it.

  • This is something that grinds my gears too.    It's just a basic lack of respect for the customer.        I'm expecting a boiler service today - anytime 8am to 6pm - a waste of a whole day for a 10-minute job.        The guy will just take the cover off to check condition, blow the dust out and put the cover back on (it's a new boiler).      I'm already agitated so I've been up since 1am.

  • Lady not last* my dictionary likes to change my words sorry

  • I understand its frustrating. I once was told to meet a group of people I asked what time. The last said mid day but we're always late. So I got there 12.15 not wanting to be in my own. I got there this other last was miffed she explained they say 12 but no one goes until 4pm! I never went back lol

  • Some deliver quite far my Sainsburys delivery yesterday came from Hedge End which is 33 miles away! We have closer Sainsbury’s but we are in a flexible post code area so when the one that usually delivers (which is 9/10 miles away) get overloaded - other stores step in. In fact I’ve had 3 Sainsbury’s deliveries to date since living here and they’ve come from 3 separate stores. Our nearest Morrison’s is 10 miles away or more and they deliver, though their availability has been poor.

  • See I didn’t even have that drip number thing on my tracking - just a 4 hour window which they missed. It arrived at 20:12 - should have been here by 16:20 - the anxiety and distress this caused has caused me to have a bit of an upset tummy now... horrible horrible DHL!

  • I got lucky with the Sainsbury’s slot his being early threw me. It is however getting slightly easier - Morrison’s are the easiest I’ve found to get slots with.

  • I’m completely the same Anthony and feel your pain. I had a DHL delivery yesterday. It stressed me out all day. I become almost paralysed waiting for deliveries and can’t seem to function until they deliver. I just kept refreshing the tracking page watching what number delivery they are at. But I don’t trust it as they often then show up at a different time. I have a fear of the dreaded card on the mat and then having to go through it all again. Calling customer service lines is impossible and even worse now.

I do hope you got your parcel.

  • I think they expect you to use their app to track the delivery van. (my two pence worth)

I managed to get an online grocery delivery reserved on the Asda app, but not until Monday 25 May. At least that's a sign of progress; and that the backlog is down significantly.
