Pet hates, what are yours?

I get very irritated quite easily when people do things that I think are unacceptable and rude. I end up obsessing about it. The following are my pet hates:

People texting on mobile phone in my company, particularly when they don't ask my permission - hate the  click click sound of texting with a passion.

People snacking in my company, particularly when walking and when I am not eating. I am against people snacking in public: I think it is rude and disorderly. Snacking should be done in the home at set times - I realise I am very strict, but can't help it.

Cars mounting pavements - rude, dangerous and selfish.

People saying sorry when they don't really mean it because they repeat the behaviour. Like saying 'sorry' for being late and then being late all the time.

Some accents and ways of speaking make me annoyed.

When people touch my possessions without asking.

When people assume things without asking.

Can't stand the word 'bless' or when women say 'she says' after finishing a sentance.

Can't stand the word 'awesome'.

People who don't cover their mouth when coughing or sneezing.

People who go to work feeling ill - spreading disease is rude and selfish (not talking about colds, but about real sickness)

Homophobics, racists, sexists, and those who ridicule the disabled.

Cars - polluting, dangerous, noisy

Electric lawnmowers - noisy

People who sit opposite me on the train when there are other seats available

  • I heared the best answer to this question a couple of days ago from a guy named Karl Pilkington. He is a bit of a minor celebrity now thanks to Ricky Gervais. He was originally Ricky's producer on XFM about 10 years ago. He's got pretty famous for being a bit closed minded and some what slow to put it mildly.

Karl was asked whats your pet hate?

His response was "when they do a poo somewhere and you cant find it and it stinks"

    Laughing

.....I think I get you on the 'Chav' culture comment...... but also I try to be cautious with the generalisations....society as a whole does frustrates me though..... I cannot understand why some people behave the way they do.......Frown

  • got a bit of a list really

    -smugness in any context

-the sheer braindead stupidity of the 'chav' culture that has infected my generation

    -childern constantly talking

-being told about a mistake in detail when i know full well i made it and would just like to move on now please

  • ...people who drop litter Cry

  • Deciet and betrayl in films.

Motrists (especially trucks) who dangerously over take me on my bike.......

  • When I read " I have decided I have Aspergers Syndrome , I need advice on more benefits".

Drunk people who have devolved back into Cavemen.

    People who spitwhen they talk.

The great British bake off, come dine with me, four in a bed or any other banal TV.

    Sodium lighting

    High ceilings

Days that do not contain cake.

  • ..... in cold weather I find more things to worry about. Cycling gets more dangerous, pipes can freeze, heating costs go up, my joints get worse and its dark for longer in the winter Frown ..........

  • Yes, it is the extremes in weather which I don't like. Although at least with cold weather I can pile on the layers. Hot weather is the worst for me

...........which brings me to another pet hate: hot weather.

.......I hate hot weather too....and very cold weather...

  • I only have some problem with noise when I am trying to read or get to sleep or do anything else which involves concentration. I don't know whether this counts as an AS issue as I know people without AS who also get distracted by noise, but I possibly get more stressed or take it more seriously than they do. I do hate electric lawnmowers, particularly on very hot days, which brings me to another pet hate: hot weather.

And I hate it when people make me do something before I am ready -losing control really makes me stressed, and I fear losing control and not knowing what to do, which fuels my OCD.

  • I also hate loud and excessive noise. Especially at work, if its quiet a couple of people like to go "wow" in a really loud high pitched voice. Makes my insides jump. I don't see the point in doing that. I have actually started wearing my earphones alot more now when I'm out and about. Noise seems to grate alot more than it did in the past.

Absolutely hate unexpected surprises and people just assuming I'd be able to take that sort of stuff in my stride. Just getting things dropped on me can disrupt entire days.

I also really hate people I don't know, and in some cases people I do know staring at me for no reason. If I look up and see someone I dont' know staring at me I instantly get defensive.

I like children (so long as they are not screaming), but I get annoyed when people go all gooey eyed over them and sentimental. Yes, children can be sweet, but don't go into hysterics over it!. Children can also be dirty, smelly, and irritating!

I find all children pretty annoying, but I do appreciate that different people like different things....... I just feel a whole lot better when children are not around. I quite like cats though Smile

  • I don't like it in the gym when people don't wipe sweat off the machines.

The smell of smoking, the action of smoking doesnt bother me.

People being matrys to the cause.

People who find value in something just because it is old and traditional.

People who find value in anything new just because it's new. People on trains that have to show the world their new kindle/ifad/idrone is particulary annoying.

People who try and makes converstion about my beard, it's a beard not a revolution.

People who ask if tattoo's hurt when they have tattoo's themselves. I dont mind people who are genuinely curious.

Random people trying to make conversation.

People with bad hygene, breath etc. Im not opposed to people living freely, but I don't wan't to smell it.

Children, nosey people and people that think they have the right to demand eye contact.

    mackems.

  • noise...outside the house or neighbours......overly distracting and makes me v. stressed....... it makes me unable to do anything.....and v unhappy......

  • Smoking is another one of my pet hates too. As a non-smoker I think that smoking is a disgusting habit.  People who smoke end up stinking of smoke, which is just as bad as BO - another pet hate along with bad breath. I try and avoid people smoking because the air stinks.

I also can't stand it when people spit in public - this is uncouth, unhygienic and inconsiderate.

Deoderants  - the spray on variety. Also can't stand strong perfumes. I only like perfume if it is discreet and a nice odour.

  • Smoking in public places or in enclosed areas shared with non-smokers.

Commercials on TV.  I really resent my enjoyment of a programme being continually interrupted by someone flashing some product on the screen while talking to you in a high pitched voice as if you were 3 years old, especially if I'm paying for the TV service.

Pop-up internet ads and ones that pop up on the screen when you're watching TV.  I hate the way just about everything is exploited commercially.

People tapping their pens on their desks.

    High-pitched and loud noises.

    Spitting in public

    Cars parked on the pavement

Radios playing at work or long bus journeys.  You are a captive audience and it is forced on you

    Cold callers

Celebrity culture and all things kitsch.

  • Having neighbours who seem to think that shouting to each other is an acceptable form of communication. It's not. They're all adults. We have a couple the other side with young children. I've never heard them make that much noise. In fact, I've never heard them make any noise at all.

People who think they know more about my disabilities than I do. I'm the one living with them; not you.

    Noisy eaters

People who think that giving one days' notice for an appointment is acceptable. It's not. And I don't even need to attend that appointment.

    People who play loud music

People who shout on their mobiles

Cars parked on the pavement. It's always on a certain road where the pavement is narrow and there's double yellow lines. As someone with sight impairments, that's pretty dangerous for me.

  • My pet hates change quite a lot I find, I can really hate something for ages, and then, for no real reason, I find it just doesn't bother me at all. It is though replaced by something else, usually.

At the moment, mainly because it's been happening a lot, for various reasons, my no1 pet hate is:

    Jon said:
I really don't like it when people just turn up at the house with no warning....

    that.

  • I am trying to think of pet hates...but they all seem like monster hates....Undecided

I really don't like it when people just turn up at the house with no warning....its nearlly as bad as people tunring up pre-arranged.....Wink
