Only scored 19 on systematizing quotient, 34 on Autistic quotient, and 11 on empathy quotient.

I scored 19 on Systematizing quotient, but I do not feel this reflects my systematizing abilities: I am not interested in railway formations, maths, technology etc. However, in the areas I am interested in I systematize to a huge extent. I believe this quotient is biased towards a certain type of interest (technology, natural science) and not towards other kinds of systematizing, therefore I do not think this test is that reliable.

Empathy: not surprising my score is this low. I really struggle with conventional empathy, but I do have feelings and care about others, just not in the conventional way. Feel no empathy when someone cries, for example. Most people with AS score around 20 so mine was incredibly low. AQ: 34, in the autistic range, but only just. I have done these tests before and they show internal reliability, but not necessarily external reliability. My scores are always very consistent. I was diagnosed 4 years ago, but my diagnosis was based on far more than just these tests, which are only screening instruments.

Yeah, I raised a similar point in the other recent thread on this. The questions are a bit too specific. And, given the 'target audience', as it were, the test as a whole is not particularly well designed.

I'd be interested in knowing what score you got if you didn't interpret the questions quite so literally, and answered them based on the type of behaviour the question is asking about instead.

So, for example, and this is the example I gave in the other thread, with the question about making a point of watching the news every morning, I answer on the 'agree' side, but not because I do watch the news every morning - I watch it in the evening, or at night, and not even every day, via the internet, but I do make a point of catching up the news I've missed when I do - similarly, I think one should answer on the 'agree' side if one makes a point of reading a newspaper evey day - it's the 'making the point of' that's important, not the task itself (though I think the task is important - because it's about gaining knowledge about what's going on in the world).

Try to discern what the questions are driving at, and answer accordingly.

Also, this just shows why one can't diagnose something like an ASD using a questionnaire.
