Worst thing that happened to me today was completely unexpected. As a reward to myself after the CBT i usually go into a sushi takeaway place and buy a £6.19 box of sushi and salad. It''s usually the same woman who serves me but today she was very unpleasant. I think it must be because I rarely smile or make eye contact or perhaps I missed some important bit of non verbal communication. Anyway there are hundreds of other sushi shops in london. I just need to learn to be a bit thicker skinned around people like that.
We recently started doing a short meditation at the start and finish of each session to calm me down a bit. My counselor is very good.
Yes. The journey home when you're "frazzled" is definitely the worst part. Going to listen to some CDs now (The Monkees and Wanda Jackson) and try to relax.
I've always wished that counsellors could do home visits. The last one I saw was particularly good, and I really appreciated the sessions with her; but I hated having to travel right across town and all the hanging around in a noisy waiting rooms etc. The journey home when my brain was frazzled from the session was always the worst. To be fair to the counsellor, she did realise that I found it hard, so did the best she could to arrange the easiest appointment times, get other users of the building to be a bit quieter, and ensured that sessions ended with a few minutes of down time so that I could switch myself into "travel mode". I always made sure I had some guaranteed down-time once back at home, with all my chores done etc. and no outside contact for a bit.
