Always been an issue for me being overwhelmed by thoughts, things to do, concepts and unable to fix them all into an order that is manageable. This stops me from being able to do things and I worry a lot with this and I suppose it flares OCD.
How do you cope with this?
Hello; I don’t know if this will be of any use to you. but have thought about what’s called a sensory diet? Here’s a link to a previous discussion.
thank you for this. i have considered it, but not fully committed just yet. you believe it helps with the disorderly thoughts?
It depends on what is causing you to be overwhelmed by disorderly thoughts. If it’s due - either in part or wholly - to sensory overload, then a sensory diet may be worth considering to help manage the disorderliness. There is an article here about sensory integration.
If it’s an executive function issue you can find some good information here.
I don't know if this will help but to get my focus I use something called a Bullet Journal. It has helped me in sorting things into some sense of order and, more importantly, getting things done. I've tried conventional diaries and to-do lists of various kinds but they tended to grow to be unsorted and more confusing than help.
It has helped me in sorting life and ensuring stuff gets done when needed (rather than missed or late) but you can also put things like "concepts" into separate "collections"
Here are a couple of links as an introduction and further video on collections.
If you do further searches you'll find that there are a vast number of ways that people have adapted this basic system to work for them.
