Just a bit of fun...
In detail (what else?), what do you have on your desk - or wherever it is you sit to do your work?
Here goes for me:
* Pot of pens and pencils (seashore design on the pot)
* 'Wine-glass' tealight holder
* Tall carved wooden candle stick with candle, standing on crocheted doily
* Mini teddy bear wearing a jumper with a snowman design
* LED desk lamp
* Phones - landline and mobile (Sony Xperia)
* Photo of mum, aged about 20
* VW Campervan mug of coffee, on a rose-design coaster
* Headphones (JVC)
* Asus 27" monitor
* Microsoft mouse on recycled tyre mouse-mat (from the Alternative Technology Centre in Wales)
* TalkTalk internet router
* HP Envy 5540 all-in-one printer
* 2 memory sticks
* Gas lighter for candles
* Day-glo yellow highlighter pen
* Packet of salmon Dreamies treats for Daisy
* Microsoft keyboard (photo of Daisy on-screen)
* Shadows
...and here it is, minus the mobile - which I needed to take the photo!
Yes, me too but I don't think that was a realistic option, I dream of being able to play Bach's cello concertos one day but not sure if it's even possible on a bass. Anyway, I love the low notes.
Well done for playing the piano, as I'm trying to learn the theory side too I can see the attraction of a keyboard as it's easier to see what's going on. Think I'll stick with the bass notes for now though (when I can find them).
I've got the legs for it!
Always wanted to play the cello.....
I'm not going to give up Caretwo, I practise most days and there's perceptible improvement but I know that realistically it'll take years rather than weeks to get very far. Impressed with the harmonica, can't imagine how you'd know where you are!
I chose bass because I love the low notes and four strings are easier to start getting your head around, and because bass players usually lurk in the background, not that I plan on playing in public :)
You're not meant to play them backwards....maybe that is where you are going wrong.... hehe...
I took up the piano when I was 19. Almost 40 years later, I'm still crap. I just don't have a natural ability. I have to work hard. Even so, I have pieces that I've played hundreds of times and know backwards - but I still make mistakes.
I've heard the difference between a professional and an amateur is... and amateur practices until they get it right, a professional practices until they can't get it wrong.
I tried the guitar for years, but was hopeless. Piano is easier than guitar.
Willy Rushton
'I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue' or 'The News Quiz' were always my favourites. Not really listened for about a year, though.
Never give up...never surrender..no matter how much the cats curse you!
I still have my penny whistle but it stays packed away as I still have a cat.
The penny whistle seems easier to learn than a harmonica but (strangely) it is easier to get a decent sound from the latter.
Can I hire your services and that of your penny whistle this xmas....
the journey has to start somewhere....
I like it!
Do not give up learning the bass. I wish I could play an instrument
A long time ago I tried to learn the guitar but gave up as I was truly useless.
Later I tried to learn the penny whistle but had to stop because every time I started practising my cats began crying and howling.
Later still I tried to learn the harmonica and managed to get as far as a recognisable (but not very good) Jingle Bells. I am considering trying again with the harmonica.
Why you keeping yourself down sister! Are you expecting others to put you down...,and you're just getting in there first!! I do the same....and I don't take compliments either (on the rare occasion that they happen)....
i love your space....and I love art and anything creative......the beautiful lives in the gaps and chaos of life! We should let it in more often....
This is a much better view of my lair. I'm learning to play my beautiful bass guitar, only been a few months so I'm pretty hopeless, but getting better. Not expecting miracles.
Also listen to music online.....it depends on my mood...daytime....general listening and blots out the sense of being isolated....evening for mood, unwinding, cathartic cleansing....which can range from classical, opera, punk, folk.....anything....depends on where my head is at....from Pink Floyd to Mozart and back again......and every where in between
headphone moments.....needed
Hate it.....but it is enough for people to scuttle off and leave me in peace....
Love Just a Minute..... Nicolas Parsons has the professionalism of a saint!
