Autism and the menopause

Has anyone experienced heightened sensory overwhelm because of peri, meno or post menopause?

  • Yes most definitely. I didn’t realise that’s what it was at first in fact it took a couple of years to figure it out. I’ve taken HRT for 18 months which has settled some things down like general anxiety and achy joints but sleep is still a challenge and I’m definitely still more sensitive to noise or maybe just more aware of it. My plan is to try and find simple ways of reducing my exposure to sensory overwhelm when possible.
