secondary school for aspergers

my son will be going to secondary school soon and is aspergers with anxiety issues learning difficulties and social and some communication difficulties. in mainstream now but doing fairly well coping ok,but do i continue with mainstream at secondary,to get bullied and maybe not be able to keep up with other kids or send him to a special school? i dont know whats best please help with some advice if poss ,thanks crystal47

  • Arrange a visit if you can and see what they have to say.  If their target is some degree of inclusion in the mainstream, do get a clear statement from them, if you do go, on how much time your son can spend out of the mainstream if he needs to, and ensure that you can pull him out of subjects/classes which prove too stressful.  Your own target is a happy child, as settled as he can be, so it's worth checking that the school's is the same and not something measured purely in potential GCSEs.
