Has anyone successfully applied for an Ehcp for a child with High functioning autism and sensory processing disorder & hypercussis? I have been told we wont get one, so I was wondering if anyone had?

Hi i had to fight to get my daughters EHC but she was out of school with anxiety for ayear and now attends special school, i am currently about to go to mediation with the local authority as my son has been part time schooled since febuary. It's so hard and i just don't understand why we have to battle so hard.
The school will always tell you that you will not get a plan. By getting a plan which by the way covers your child for access to support in education until the age of 25, it shows that the school is not helping.
You get a plan by getting an a clinical psychologists diagnosis. If you have this then that should guarentee to get you your EHCP. However once you get this it is all about the enforcement and monitoring of the objectives within it to help your child.
In my experience (my son now 16) the help is shoddy, the education system is discriminate towards how Autisitc individuals process language, and no one really gives a damn!
If I had my time again I would still get the report but I would Have home schooled with private 1:1 tuition from specialised tutors.
Sorry the document can be used a legal tool if you need to use it, but it is not a document to solve the stress both you and your child are coping with trying to educate him or her.
Good Luck
Thanks Louayre im going to see what the senco says at out next Taf, xxx
Hi, this probably isn't what you want to hear but my son has severe autism with severe learning difficulties and we got it no problem And he now goes to a special needs school for severe learning difficulties at age 4. However I know people who have high functioning and mild autism and they have had to fight for there's. You can take it to a tribunal if you feel your son needs it. I say fight for what you feel your Child needs!
