Hello, I'm new to the community but have 10 year old with Aspergers syndrome. He has severe anxieties & school is one of his main issues.
He goes to mainstream & I'm doing what I can to support him. He can be very violent at home but normally holds it together at school. He hasnt been to school for last 2 days. Today I got him to school but he was very anxious & upset he said (as always) maths & literacy were an issue. He sat outside school refusing to go in & I was told by his teacher to take him home & try again tomorrow.
The school tell me he's fine when there but yet tell me he won't cope in high school & are doubtful he will cope in year 6 so I'm so confused over what's really going on. I have regular Caf meetings & he is under camhs.
Does anyone have any experience with this or advice on what I should be doing please to support getting him back into school. I really don't believe home education is suitable for us as a family right now.
I understand the importance of Maths & Literacy but am I being unreasonable if I ask school to withdraw him from these lessons as a temporary measure to at least get him back into school & until it can be discussed at our next caf?
Sorry for long post & thank you for reading
