Hi all,
Our 6yr old son has Asperger's (not yet diagnosed but we're quite sure). His teacher has been great and she is now suggesting a quiet area in the class to avoid sensory overload. There are occassions where he can't do any work because of all the distractions around him - this is something we've seen at home too - and she thinks he'll be able to concentrate on his work in a screened off area.
She has been clear that it is not a punishment, but I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do? What do people think? Is this the best way to help Asperger's kids succeed at school. Will it make him look different to his class and lead to social problems?
Thanks,
