Statement - funding for a number of hours what does this mean.

I have been searching the web but can not find the answer to this question....

First question....

If statement says it is funding a certain number of hours - how much money does this equate to?

Am I correct that the first £6000 must come from the school's own funds?  And I think I was once told that in our area this is 18hrs per week.

So can I assume therefore that each extra hour in the statement attracts - £6000 divided by 18 ie £333?

So a child with full time support would receive an extra £5000 ish per year?  £11,000 in total does not seem like enough money to me to pay for a TA.....am I correct??

Next question.......when we change over to EHC - is the support now in money not hours terms........can we really have control over how the money is spent?

  • Hi Mumoftwo99.

First yes £11000 is enough for a TA, my wife has an NVQ 3 and 10 years experience, plus both of ours are AS and she makes just under £11000 per year.

i am not 100% sure every county is the same but the first 15 hours is funded by the school, but only at school action plus, which is at a 1/4 ration.  Before you scream that makes no sense, you are right,  it the statement says 25 hours 1 to 1 they will only get 10 hours 1 to 1 and the rest (if they are lucky) in a 1 to 4 ratio.

This might not be the same everywhere but in Wiltshire it is, at least that is what we were told by everyone.

    hopes this helps.

  • Hi -  check out info via the home pg or have a look at the ipsea site if you haven't already....there may be info there.  Maybe other posters will have info.
