ASD children in BESD special schools

My son is really struggling in his first term in a BESD special school (year7). Does anyone know of any research or evidence to demonstrate whether this is or is not an appropriate setting for Aspergers children? Thanks

    He does have behavioural difficulties, due to his poor social skills, and can become violent and abusive, but I was wondering if the setting is excarbating these and he would be better in a school that specialised in autistic children. I didn't know if there was any evidence to support this.
