Hi all new to the website and hoping to get some advice regarding music year old son. I hope it’s ok at post given our current situation.
He’s always been a bit challenging but he’s recently turned six and as yet is undiagnosed with anything. I think he has PDA. His behaviour is as follows;
He gets frustrated playing with his own toys , ie action figures. He will for example try and put an action figure into a toy car that doesn’t fit, but gets angry because it doesn’t fit. It’s like he can’t see that the figure isn’t designed to be put inside the toy car rather than think that for himself.
Beige foods- he eats pasta , nuggets and scrambled egg, potato waffles. He’s previously eaten some fruit and veg but now just refuses to even try.
He refuses to get dressed for school and brush his teeth. He shouts at us and tells us he doesn’t want to and calls us stupid and similar things.
He goes to school and so far his behaviour is fine , it’s when he gets home it seems to change. He does have friends and generally plays well with them.
We took him recently to a GP appointment regarding his behaviour, the GP said she wasn’t sure she could diagnose him with anything as he’s still quite young… although the GP did send us some online links about parenting through the local children services centre. The school have been written to aswell but they haven’t informed us of anything as yet.
It just seems we’re in limbo. We struggle to know how to parent him and it seems we’re in a bit of a rut. We also have a daughter who’s 11 who’s a completely different child.
