Hi,
I've a severely autistic son, non verbal has learning disability. He's 16 now and receiving PIP. His PIP goes into my bank account due to he's unable to manage his own affairs. Most likely it'll be forever. My question is, is it better/worth it to get his own account when he turns 18 or even now? I'm receiving UC and carers allowance and I don't really want to mix them up as it'll add to my balance and DWP consider it as my savings/capital. And will I be able to open an account for him since he's unable to manage it himself? I will need power of attorney and in the end, I'll be the one who manages the money anyway?
Please advise.
Many thanks.
