Hi everyone,
My six year old son is autistic, and has always found clothing textures challenging. He’s generally been okay in soft fairly loose (not too loose) fitting clothes, and although socks have always been a bit troublesome we’ve managed.
Over the last month or so socks have become intolerable for him, to the point where we’re struggling to get him out of the house as he can’t wear socks at all (he can’t tolerate shoes/wellies without socks or being outside barefoot). We used to have a huge pile of socks by the door and try different pairs until one felt okay. Most often it’s the feeling of the seam bump on his toes, but we’ve tried seamless socks and he can’t wear these either. Sometimes it’s the heel, and other times how they feel on his legs. We had some success with M&S ultimate comfort socks, but after a week or two wasn’t able to wear them anymore.
He’s clearly distressed by how they feel. Can anyone recommend any kids socks that have worked for them or their children?
Thanks!
