Has anyone been on a help! scotland parent course?

Hi,

I was given a info pack from my sons psychologist a cupple of weeks ago when she gave me my sons diagnosis, a dual one of aspergers and dyspraxia. He was diagnosed with dyspraxia at aged 4 and hypotonia at 18months. In the pack I have come accross info on courses run by the NAS for parents dealing with a new diagnosis and was wondering if anyone had been on a course and if it helped them.

My son is 16 so i sort of feel I have muddled through on my own till now and would like to take advantage of any support I can now find. Its not been fun on my own. My husband is great but works long hours and doesnt understand our son and most things I deal with on my own.

  • Thanks very much moonraker. Hope you are now getting the right support for you and your son and the formal diagnosis helps you,I was expecting it but it still sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Im just feeling a bit confused at the moment because I keep looking up information and then just finding that theres more I need to know! and there is lots of things that I thought was to do with his dyspraxia and its actualy due to the AS. It sounds like the courses will be very good for me.

    Thanks again
