Has anyone been on a help! scotland parent course?

Hi,

I was given a info pack from my sons psychologist a cupple of weeks ago when she gave me my sons diagnosis, a dual one of aspergers and dyspraxia. He was diagnosed with dyspraxia at aged 4 and hypotonia at 18months. In the pack I have come accross info on courses run by the NAS for parents dealing with a new diagnosis and was wondering if anyone had been on a course and if it helped them.

My son is 16 so i sort of feel I have muddled through on my own till now and would like to take advantage of any support I can now find. Its not been fun on my own. My husband is great but works long hours and doesnt understand our son and most things I deal with on my own.

  • Hi Sam

My 14 year old son has only just this week got a formal diagnosis of Autism but I went with my sister to a help Scotland course in March and we found it very, very useful. I would highly recommend you go, it's a chance to meet other parents, get advice (or be directed to the right advice) and lots of information.
