I just want to know if anyone else in this community has a brother or sister with autism? Or is autistic and has a sibling with or without autism?  Or maybe you are a parent with an autistic child and other siblings?

I would like to hear abour your experiences. 

 

I have two younger siblings with autism.  I have learnt alot growing up alongside them and I have both good and bad memories along the way.  I currently don't live in the same house as them, but try to visit them when I can.  I find it difficult to keep in contact with them as they are both non-verbal, but my parents keep me updated in between visits.

  • I am aspergic autistic and have a younger brother who is not on the spectrum, but shares some of the traits, which suggests there is some genetic element. My brother had a mild speech impediment wlhen he was a little boy, which lowered his self esteem and had  an effect upon his ability to make friends. My brother used to be very obsessed with trains. However, he currently has no phobias or anxieties to speak of, and he is very spontaneous. I am the complete opposite. Because of my AS, I need routine and ritual, and I have severe anxiety.
