My Son who’s seven really needs to wear slippers but he won’t any suggestions please?
You could get him novelty slippers, something fun like SpongeBob or Scooby slippers? He might be more interested in wearing them then.
Personally I can't tolerate anything on my feet, even socks are a bit much really! I prefer to have my feet bare. It's way more comfortable for me that way.
I don't love wearing socks unless I really need to. I've got eczema and they're not kind to me.
I do remember a time I didn't want to wear these new shoes to school cos I thought people would laugh at me (they didn't). I was 8.
I'm curious as to why he needs to wear slippers as well?
It might be he prefers to have nothing on his feet and I expect that's something we can all understand. I prefer to be barefoot whenever possible, I hate the feel of anything on my feet, especially shoes. When I wear shoes it feels like my feet are being strangled.
As a girl me mam always had a struggle to get me to put me shoes on ready for school lol. I still don't like wearing shoes, socks are ok, so long as they're a good material that doesn't affect my skin.
Why does he need to?
The secret to slippers is natural fibres. The feet and head are very specific to temperature regulation and petroleum-based fibres like polyesters are essentially wearing plastic.
At seven, children are still growing, so I might suggest to find pure wool felt, even marino as wool is one of the best for naturally interacting with our biology for staying at a perfect temperature. Birkenstock makes these which might be a joy to wear (and he may then need a pair to wear out of the house!) https://www.birkenstock.com/gb/zermatt-kids-felt/zermattkids-cozyhome-woolfelt-0-latex-u_6333.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=pmax&utm_campaign=evergreen-cat_GB&utm_content=Clogs&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjww_iwBhApEiwAuG6ccA9PID9zbS348DKrPfoJ8H_OCBo-XSaS-R8jQxiyV1V-icRZch8PrRoCz5sQAvD_BwE
I started to find that my son would happily do a thing which also felt slightly indulgent. So, once he was older I bought him a pair of Shepherds of Sweden and he never opts for bare feet again!
I’ll have a look. thanks
Only because he keeps bumping his feet.
Judging by myself and other Autistic members of my family ...not a fan of slippers (we tend to prefer: bare feet / socks indoors in Summer and slipper-socks or lightweight stretchy ballet pumps style travel slipers in Winter ...if we must).
However, when I was a child and living somewhere where something more proective on your feet was more than "advisable" (don't ask for details, please ...as I don't want too trigger any phobias which folk might have) I would happily wear Martial Arts Slippers (they tend to be a black cotton canvas upper, lined with smoth white cotton - of a slip-on style (great as some Autistic people are not fans of laces etc. - with a slightly textured flexible, durable, plastic sole). They squash-down flat to the sole, so they are also good for tucking into an overnight bag if you are staying with a friend / relative, planning what might work for use during a Hospital / Hotel stay, or loking for a suitable compromise for wear during an aeroplane flight / when passenger during a long car / train / coach journey. This below link happens to show a range of adult sizes, but they can also usually be sourced in a wider range of sizes - not just online - also sometimes in independent sports equipment shops.
Maybe this photo will illustrate what I mean:
Martial Arts Slippers
I only wear slippers when my feet are cold and even then I wear slipper socks or the ballet pump style ones with slipper sock bottoms. I just wear socks or have bare feet when it’s warmer. Why does he need to wear slippers? Do you have hard floors that he’s falling over on?
My mum got me a pair of cute Xmas ones last year, I can't wear them unfortunately but I keep them on a shelf because they are so pretty.
Same here. I don't like the feel of anything on my feet so an barefoot whenever possible.
My son who is now 16 never liked slippers. He sometimes wears socks, only particular ones he finds comfortable but most of the time he walks around indoors in bare feet. He doesn't like things on his feet. I presume it is the same for your son. I tried slippers when he was younger but gave up trying.
Duvet socks?, You can get them in places like B&M Bargains for under £5, they have a thick fluffy lining, but are soft.
Why does he need to wear slippers?
I never wear anything on my feet when I’m indoors.
