Little help?!

Ok so i am a bit confused really, my son is exempt from the bedroom tax as he is classed as "severly disabled child" But he was denied dla as he is "no more work than another child his age" Really?! how can they both apply under the same LA? I am really getting agravated!

  • I haven't misunderstood. DLA has nothing to do with the LA / bedroom taz. To get DLA for a child, they must either have more care and /or mobility needs than a child their own age or the same needs as a younger child.

I am not sure how the bedroom tax exemption works in regards to children. But it's a decision made by the LA who won't have access to the decision made by DWP.

But there's no automatic entitlement to DLA unless the child has a terminal illness or meets the criteria for higher mobility in terms of being blind.
