No you didnt misunderstand i was implying how the dla can disagree with the LA who is essentally the dwp as its all the governmet... really just wanted a little rant and some eople to join in and say they are rubbish! I didnt need a short shar post about who is what.. really was not the point, but nevermind i was not being mindful of where i was posting.

I haven't misunderstood. DLA has nothing to do with the LA / bedroom taz. To get DLA for a child, they must either have more care and /or mobility needs than a child their own age or the same needs as a younger child.

I am not sure how the bedroom tax exemption works in regards to children.But it's a decision made by the LA who won't have access to the decision made by DWP.

But there's no automatic entitlement to DLA unless the child has a terminal illness or meets the criteria for higher mobility in terms of being blind.

DWP is not the LA.  DWP will not be aware of decisions the LA is making regarding his disability.

Hi - I don't think stranger has misunderstood.  Your local authority has made a decision, it doesn't have to consult the department of works and pensions as far as I'm aware.  Just shows what a mess things are in with regard to help for people who need it.  Congratulations on escaping the bedroom tax!

I think stranger has misunderstood your post.

Appeal the DWPs decision as they often refuse first time around, persist and you stand a better chance.  Quite frankly I cannot believe they turned you down the first time though.  Send copies of any professionals reports you have stating his disability.
