Adult Autism Assessment.

Hi, I'm new here. My daughter is 21 years old and has struggled all her life with her mental health.  Just recently she was referred for Autism testing to be done, but the waiting list is 36 months, which is to long.

Can anyone help me with any information for my daughter to be seen quicker or for her to be seen privately?

My daughter tried to commit suicide last year, she has depression and anxiety. Our GP suspects my daughter was misdiagnosed as a toddler for Autism. She had all the traits for Autism, but I was told she was just "delayed".

Thank you.

  • Hi. I'm sorry to here about your daughter. I was very reluctant to do it on principle, but in the end I weighed up the impact a long wait would have on me and my family and decided to go private. It was a difficult decision, but I'm glad I did it.  The whole process - form filling, history, multiple questionnaires, multiple interviews, report and follow up took about 5 weeks.
