Adult Autism Assessment.

Hi, I'm new here. My daughter is 21 years old and has struggled all her life with her mental health.  Just recently she was referred for Autism testing to be done, but the waiting list is 36 months, which is to long.

Can anyone help me with any information for my daughter to be seen quicker or for her to be seen privately?

My daughter tried to commit suicide last year, she has depression and anxiety. Our GP suspects my daughter was misdiagnosed as a toddler for Autism. She had all the traits for Autism, but I was told she was just "delayed".

Thank you.

  • I'm so sorry to hear your daughter is in such distress, this must be hugely worrying.

What I did is tell my GP I would like the 'right to choose' and asked them to refer me on to Psychiatry UK. This shortens the wait list down significantly. I started my referral last summer and my assessment is next week, but other people on this site have said that they were seen within 6-7 months of referral using this system.

Try the above out and see how it goes - and massive good luck to you both.
