My sons school are useless

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me my son got diagnosed about  six weeks ago with autism and generalised hypermobility and motor coordination difficults we have known from a baby he was a bit diffrent and then he went to an amazing nursery (tanglewoods in chelmsford) who put us on the right path to get him diagnosed and they went out of there way to help him learn and understand the world around him and he came on so far tantrums reduced, he tried to be more independent, stopped wetting him self ect and then he went to school! Now we are back to square one and his teacher is telling me his no diffrent to any other children they haven't got him on a action plan I asked almost a month a go to see their senco, I'm still waiting. I went for stay and play and he was siting in a diffrent direction to the class and froze when another child took his toy, I looked threw the window and my child was walking around in circles looking lost and confused while the other children were at there desks getting changed for pe i am beging to not want to take him there anymore as they don't seem very intressed in what his diagnoses report has said I don't no where to go from here we are at breaking point  any advise would be great. Thanks from a very stressed mum :-/

  • It makes me so cross to hear things like this happening!  What right have the staff there, who don't sound like they know your son, to undermine his diagnosis like this?!  Honestly, there will probably be someone along who can give you better advice than me.  I've been lucky as my son goes to a very supportive school.  However, if it were me, I'd be ringing twice a day and emailing at least once a day until i got an appropriate response and a very prompt meeting with the SENCO, Head and class teacher.  (ie I'd make a nuisance of myself until they were so fed up with me they'd do anything to shut me up Wink)  If there is still no response, I might have a look at who the Governor for SEN is at your school.  You don't mention a statement and I assume as he is not even on an action plan they have no intention of applying.  If this is the case, I'd apply myself.

Seriously, don't give up.  I hate to hear of parents getting to 'breaking point'.  Put all that negative energy into fighting for your sons education.  Good luck!
