Language Disability

Hi if anybody can help me plz. my 2.7 year old daughter  have ASD. she do not talk at all only say dada but does meat to it. Always plying with lighting toys and listening music or outdoor activities having slide or swing. Does not follow any instruction. Just want to know shw will be 3 in oct. would she able to speak on some stage in age of 4 or five.  She does bable some time especialy before she go to sleep. And one more thing would normal school give her space even she does not start talking in age of 4. How I can teach her to talking.

  • I don't think a mainstream school could exclude her for lack of speech, as that would be discrimination and they all have to be inclusive.  However, perhaps it's a good idea to get your daughter assessed by a speech and language therapist, and any issues that identified could potentially mean a mainstream school might not be the best place for her.  You should aim to put your daughter in the school setting that is best for her obviously.  Has anyone previously said anything about your daughter being assessed, such as a health visitor, baby clinic, GP or anyone?

    There are many autistic children who start off with speech delays but end up speaking perfectly normally.
