Brushing teeth

My six year recently diagnosed with ASC. He used to attempt to brush his teeth or let myself or his Dad brush his teeth most bedtimes but never in the morning. Now he won’t brush his teeth atall or let me or his Dad brush them. How can we get him to brush his teeth?

  • Soft bristles hurt my gums and leave them stinging for a while. It could be useful to buy several different types for him to try.

Toothpaste: I really don't like the ones which froth up in the mouth. And even mouthwashes can be too much. Ecodenta and Dr Organic make toothpastes that work. There's also toothpaste gum now I think. But given that one always needs toothpaste, if you're willing to commit to finding something he likes, you can "polish" off the ones he doesn't. :)

  • Oh I so hate the frothy ones! Why do people want to be like a rabid dog?! I had a huge problem a couple of years ago where my preferred toothpaste suddenly changed to madly frothing and also they changed my preferred toothbrush to make it squeaky!!! I emailed them to complain and all they did was send me a voucher. Thanks but no thanks, why would I want more of that horribleness?

I had to ask my dentist who was able to recommend sensodyne which do generally make non frothy stuff, though you have to check the ingredients and it's not all SLS there is a new one I can't recall the name of. Also their toothbrushes were not squeaky either.
