Self harm

My son has been diagnosed with autism for 5-6 years now. Recently he has started trying to self harm. So far I have managed to stop him. Is there any advice on what I should do or who to contact for some help and guidance?

    It could be what's behind it eludes you, and he just doesn't understand it's self-harm yet. My mom once found me 'cooking my hand' when I was 5, while I was just checking if the water is boiling, that was what she sent me to do, and I wasn't sure how to decide if its hot enough or no.

    Or he does is with full intent because something around irritates him. Some noises can be silenced by banging your head.
