Made to sign a waiver

Hi. Today we attended a birthday party for my niece at a soft play. The kind with the big jungle gyms etc. My son who is 5, non verbal and has high functioning autism aswel as ARFID tends to pull his pants down and run about. To me this is just my little boy. He is still in nappies as he won't toilet train. We were asked to sign a waiver incase he fell and hurt himself. Admittedly I can understand but in reality I'm left questioning myself as to whether this was right. I signed it to not cause a scene for my niece but I think if I was there normally I'd ask for a refund and leave. My question really is just about wether I should have signed it or not. I watched as other kids fell over or pushed each other over and everything but my son just kept himself to himself and walked around everywhere. I'm a little torn and just want to know if in the future is have to keep doing this because honestly this is the first time.

Much love to all and our children Heart

Parents
  • did they make every other parent sign a waiver for their kids to play in that place?
maybe its standard and a sign that they acknowledge that their play area is dangerous and they have to make anyone aware of the danger and make them sign the waiver? ... sounds kinda odd, almost like they are not insured?

  • At both indoor trampoline arenas and inflatable jump sessions I take my kids to, every adult and child has to have a waiver signed in order to take part in the activity. At soft play areas I’ve taken my kids to, We have never had to sign a waiver. If other parents had to sign waivers them it must be standard practice.

Children
  • No other parents had to. Only myself

  • Yes, the waiver for taking part In trampolining is signed prior to engaging in the activity.

I also find it odd that the soft play has requested the OP to sign a waiver especially after already gaining entry into the soft play.

  • aye id understand trampoline parks as trampolines are actually very very highly dangerous, given that they are multiple small square trampolines with large areas of plastic in between that isnt trampoline that can cause injury when you land on, and the trampoline squares are so tiny that your bound to miss, and even if you hit trampoline area your feet can get stuck under plastic edge bit and break your foot. trampoline park need waiver for that. soft play area sounds odd to sign waiver unless they are not insured in some way to the point waivers are needed for anything due to their lack of insurance maybe?
