4 year old Son - ASD diagnosis - Next Steps

Hi 

We have just received an Autism diagnosis for our 4 year old son.  I really want to understand Autism further and have looked through the information sent across but it is quite overwhelming.

What would any parents who have been through this recommend as the best initial steps.  Is there a good book to read, or should we go on a course?

I'm not sure where to start.  The biggest challenge we have is our son doesn't find it that easy to communicate and his speech is very delayed so it can be a real challenge to understand him and his needs.  I would love to get better at this to start with so I can help him.
