Newly diagnosed today

Hi, please bare with me, I'm new here and not sure if I'm posting in the right place.

My soon to be 7 year old was finally diagnosed with autism today. It's been a long 5 years of fighting and constantly proving ourselves to people.

We were told in the consultation room that 'your son has autism' and given a copy of this webpage to join up to then nothing else and we left.

I was in a bit of shock at the time so didn't ask any questions, what happens next, how do we tell him, does this change anything.....can anyone give us a bit of insight please? What does happen next? Is it best we tell him? Will school offer more help etc?

Thanks for any help
