Mum looking for support

I'm mum to a 5 year old boy, today he's not autistic (this is my rediculous way of thinking thats getting me through ) but on Tuesday I'm having a post assessment meeting with his assessment team and I fully expect him to be diagnosed as they've all but said already.

I was looking around online to see if there are any local support groups, more for me selfishly at the moment as I feel really conflicted and sad about all this. There are so many different websites though, has anyone had any luck finding local groups of people to chat to about this stuff?

My recommendation is to remember that the diagnosis does not change who your son is. What it might do is help you, and others, better understand his needs and support him to fulfill his potential.

Local support may be patchy but look under "local offer" on your local authority's website. That should list all the support and services available in the area. If there's nothing listed there you could contact the "disabled children's team" in the social services department.
