Struggling with my 2 year old

Thank you. We have researched as much as we can and she ticks almost every box of the signs and symtoms lists from communication to arm flapping and shaking, no eye contact, little physical contact..shes not a hugger amd many more. Just trying everytbing we can to help her and us on a day to day basis

A picture book seems like a good idea. My youngest is 2 years and 8 months and has got so frustrated with not being able to verbally communicate her needs that she has taken to pushing me along to get to an object that she wants or putting my hand onto a door or stairgate that she wants opened. Now that we’ve got the PECS cards I’m hoping that I can train her to use them so that she is able to communicate a little easier via the cards. I hope that you get a paediatrician appointment through soon! 

She is only just 2..im hoping she is just late and taking her time. She makes noises and sounds but prefers blowing raspberries. We are going to do a picture book for her and see how that goes. I think it bothers me amd my husband more than her. She loves to play by herself, she is not interested in other children or grown ups but that could be down to communication.

How far into 2 years is she? My son didn’t speak till he was 2, then said few words and now he never stops talking and -that- is driving me insane. He’s been diagnosed with ADHD at 6 years old and later with ASD. If you are worried you could start some basic visuals with pictures for basic needs such as food, drink etc. Although I would stick with basics - just keep talking to her especially when she’s playing. I bet everyone keeps telling you this but it’s true some children just talk late. 

Not alot at the moment to be honest. Its took since july to get her an appointment, still waiting on the pediatrician. She shows every sign of autism but my main concern is her lack of communication. She camt say even one word :( we have been told to make a picture book for her x

Oh wow! My 2 year old daughter is EXACTLY like this! Except that she is diagnosed with Autism, we both are. You’re lucky that she’s already under a Speech and Language Therapist, they won’t give any input until they’re 3 in this area! Although I did manage to persuade them to come out and teach us Picture Exchange Communication System a couple of days ago. What are SALT currently suggesting to help her with her communication?
