Recent diagnosis - advice on report please

Hiya

my 16 yr old us recently received a diagnosis of ASD. I’ve been asked to read through the draft report before meeting to discuss it. I’m confused as to how the report details so much background information and family information - for example the fact I had post natal depression and that I split up from his dad temporarily. Is this normal or can I request for this to be taken out? I don’t understand how it can be useful for people working with my son to read this ?

thank you!!!

  • I know that my assessment/diagnosis report was extremely thorough. They have to go through every potential cause of symptoms throughout your entire life, in order to rule out other causes before giving a diagnosis of ASD. So it is an essential and relevant part of the report. However, it might be possible to request an abbreviated version of the report for use at school or work.
