New diagnosis/Help/Where 2 start now!!

Hi,

I am a mum of two beautiful boys.  one 5 just been diagnosed with an 'autistic spectrum disorder' and my other lil monster just 17 months.

just wanted to chat to others who are or have been in my shoes.

sounds strange but i can totally relate to my son (the oldest with the diagnosis) how he behaves and his frustration at the moment as its him and he been the same for well since things didn't seem as they should.  but what i cannot get my head around and understand is how he is going to be in 2,5,7 years time.  I supose i am trying to paint a picture of what my little boy is going to be like with regards to the diagnosis???

haha its like asking you guys to predict the future! lol

also whats the difference between 'austic spectrum disorder' and aspergers? as diagnosing dc said he will probley be refered to as aspergers as he gets older?? bit confusing!??

Well thanks and Hi to you all

  • Thanks for both of your replies!

I am now a bit clearer on the whole 'autisum spectrum disorder'Just confused me where she said ge may be refered to as having 'aspergers' syndrome as he gets older.

I have requested the 'new dignosis' pack from the support team here. Also have registered for safe which is the local aspergers group in my area. It was the diagnosing dc who gave me this info and said to register with them. (which is what confused me more) lol

Well take each day as it comes & just try to learn as much as poss to help my son!

Have either of you been on or know anyone who has been on the 'help' information course arranged by NAS??

    Thanks again.
