Ive just checked out Belbury Poly (when I looked up Ghost Box records). Really cool stuff, I love ambient electronica when it's done well. It reminds me of Zombi but without the bass line: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRrULd9aOQk
Ableton's a good program. I can't play, but if I could I'd use it. Far more fun than Cubase. Reason is a good add on package through re-wire if you like soft synths.
