Fluffy Bunnies

Hey.

I have 13 rabbits. Until last Friday i had 14. :( I lost Twitch.

They are my inspiration to life. They keep me motivated at my lowest points and i have full blown conversations with them.

They are my babies. I love them dearly. The dirty parts of it that go with them too!

Anyone else have a fluffy, feathered, scaly friend?

  • 3 cats, 1 dog, (they're considered family pets and don't technically belong to any individual in the house, we're all responsible for their care) and at the moment, 3 leopard geckos (who I care for solely, no one else feeds them etc). Soon, 2 leopard geckos and one bearded dragon.

The important thing when thinking about getting reptiles is to do TONS of research. Before my mum even allowed the thought of me keeping geckos (she was aiming at getting me a hamster, I wasn't keen on the thought that I'd be getting attatched to something that dies within two years :( ) I did about two months of research on gecko habitat, the price of all the products, food, the different morphs (coloured types of gecko) and I had to pay for all the care of the geckos when I got them.

Reptiles rely on you to give them heat, the insects and suppliments they need, and in the case of most snakes, the mice/rats they need as part of their diet.

Bearded dragons are considered one of the ideal starter pets for new reptile owners, the reason I didn't get a beardie first was because leopard geckos are the absolute easiest of reptiles to look after: bugs, heat mat, water, and a few other bits and bobs. Beardies need a bit more specialist equipment (shes made me do my homework on them too) such as UV bulbs, fruit and veg as well as bugs.

My cousin had a snake for a while, a royal python that was gorgeous, only downside was that he had to keep frozen rats in the freezer with the families frozen peas, and he had to boil the frozen mice/rats prior to feeding the snake.

Another important thing about reptiles, they can live for up to TEN years. Its a massive commitment, nothing like keeping a goldfish or rodent. I've been taking tons of photos of Bones (the gecko thats being swapped) because I do love him dearly, its just I know he'd have a better life if he was able to get paired up with a female by someone who can look after him and his babies.
