Films

For many years, I couldn't watch films due to lack of concentration. Now, I love them.

What's everyone's favourite films? Any recommendations please. Over the last few months, I've seen:

- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (both versions)

- The Borrowers (both versions)

- Matilda

- Fantasic Mr Fox

  • Daisygirl - I know what you mean about films being a refuge - I often watch films when I get too worried/scared about something - it helps to give you something else to think about.

I like the Studio Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki films too - I've seen nearly all of his films, I think he's a true artist.

I like Tim Burton too - I think Beetlejuice is his best film, as it best demonstrates his dark, twisted humour.

  • I love films, and have done since an early age. My top 10 favourite films are:

    • The Shining
    • Kill Bill
    • Ferris Bueller's Day Off
    • The Breakfast Club
    • The Boat That Rocked
    • American Beauty
    • We Need To Talk About Kevin
    • Submarine
    • The Dark Knight
    • Good Will Hunting
  • temple grandin- true story about temple (biography)

benny & joon- johnny depp has abergers in this film. its a really good film, i know some people get put off when they hear johnny depp is in a film because of another film they have watched but give it a chance its an amazing film ive got asbergers and i loved it a lot.

rain man-ive never seen it but heard its about autism and has a high rating on imdb.

forrest gump- staring tom hanks, iam not sure if forrest gump has asbergers but Tom hanks has asbergers and i highly recomened this film.

edward sissorhands- directed by tim burton (he has asbergers)the character edward in the film is suposted to be tim ovisily the story is not real but its basied on him it has johnny depp, winona ryder, dianne west, micheal anotney hall.

mermaids (1990)  (isnt animated or disney) - winona ryder, cher, christina ricci. charlotte (winona) i think suppost to have asbergers. (this is the closest winona gets to play someone with asbergers) i really liked this film it does have a few sexual refrences (rated 15) but a part from that it is a really good film.

  • Don't know if u like same films as me. But my faves are Jungle book Oliver Beauty and best Sleeping beauty Toy story Aristocats Anything Disney really hate the newer stuff like cars walls etc old school Disney I love
  • I tend to enjoy films that are fact based. The Rum Diary is fabulous, based on the book of the same title by Hunter S Thompson. One of my favourite authors. It's based on his early life as a fledgling reporter finding his voice as a writer. Cue hilarious exploits  in Puerto Rico, drug use, bizarre colleagues and lots of real 'laugh out loud' moments. and brilliantly played by Johnny Depp who became a close friend of the aither prior to his early demise.

  • I love all sorts of films Sci-Fi and thrillers are favourites Blade Runnner, Serenity, Leon for example.

I'm also very fond of the TV series and character Dexter, should I be worried?

  • I have just order a Tim Burton box set. Looking through it, I know we have one or two of the films. But it is cheaper than buying them separately.

  • here are 2 of my best films i have watched are bugsy malone and star wars the clone wars film and i also like the tv version i said to one of my TA's at school that i like star wars the clone wars film and she looked at my funny and i dont know why

well there you go my favourite films

    The Major

  • Thank you. Are there any Aspie films worth watching?

  • I love films. They have been my refuge when I was too anxious/upset to do anything.

I really enjoy anime, especially Studio Ghibli, like 'whispers of the Heart', 'Spirited Away' and 'Ponyo' (there ar a lot more). But I prefer them in Japanese (with English subtitles) because I find the US dub too screeching. Was the version of the Borrowers you saw studio Ghibli's 'Arrietty'?

Also, I enjoy Tim Burton films, and if you liked his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, try his Alice in Wonderland.

I also love all the Sci-Fi and Marvel and Fantasy types of film, and also US Indie-type films. Also a lot of animation, like 'Coraline' or 'The Incredibles'.

I totally avoid upsetting films, and any films where animals get hurt at all, as that I find very upsetting.  I would not at all recommend the film 'Mary and Max', it's supposed to be about Aspies, but it is very upseting (in my opinion), and would suggest to everyone to avoid it.
