Aspergers & The Territorial Army?

My son has just told me he has been turned down from joining the TA because he has Aspergers, surely this isn't legal?

  • try any of the Irish regiments   --- it is allowed I'm afraid.  But the Irish boys are a bit more flexible. If u have any Irish roots mention these of course.

Also try the Royal Logistics Regiment  ---- they are all into driving lorries and ambulances  and moving stuff. But again they are more flexible on who they take.

or if he can play an instrument he could join as a musician or ask for that path  ---- they dont have to do as much running or gun related stuff Slight smile

BTW I think there should be autistic only Corps in the TA especially. It could work with some minor changes.

  • yeah the TA being just part time reserves youd think theyd allow anyone... but they dont, probably because they are trying to run the military cheap, so they are making the reserves/TA be the main core force of the british army while they keep cutting and sacking the career main branch standing army. pretty risky to have your nations military might be reliant on its civilian reserves
