Run out of steam

So, never posted in a forum before. Thought this might be the best place to start. I've run out of steam, after 5 years  and 9 months since the official diagnosis of autism for my child, I have nothing left. I can't cope. There's no support from "professionals", they only offer platitudes. I was referred to behaviour support in August 2015, my appointment was in January, a phone call in May has lead to a follow up appointment in July 2016. More platitudes I suspect. I lost it yesterday, and not in a tidy way. I'm scaring my husband and don't know how much more I can do.  I'm hoping I'm maybe not on my own here?

Parents

  • You might want to get in contact with a local branch. They will almost certainly have members who will empathise with your situation.

We have 115 branches and groups across the UK.  People choose to start an NAS branch or group (groups are smaller) for all sorts of reasons. They might want to bring together families affected by autism in their local area, work with other people to improve local services or provide information and support. Every branch and group is different - some are parent support groups, some provide support and information to autistic adults, while others have office premises and run their own a drop-in service.
