This is going to sound selfish, but what do adults with Aspergers get from the NAS.

I am a mother, wife, daughter, employee and I came on here to find out who I am and if I fit at all as strongly suspect that I am on the condition. I have learnt a great deal here from talking to others here but also fear being rejected by this community also.
i feel very disconnected from the world out there but also very much impacted by it.. The forum is my safe haven and although a wife and mother I flounder at both :)
Thank you very much for your support!
Yes, it takes time and energy to locate another thread relevant in which to post my concern. Often I cannot find the perfect match but have to go with something that is close enough. For some reason, I really do not like to start new ones. Probably, because I am quite shy and I do not like to be in the spotlight.
I need to find a short thread and a relevant one. Sometimes they are several years old. This one was started over 6 years ago.
Glad Tidings to "California". I was unable to Log On yesterday (28-3-18), yet I wanted to also offer support to you, as Mr.LoneWarrior has done. When "New", it may take time to see how people regard your Online Presence here (or anywhere); yet, as you continue to support others - including myself! - you are not in the "selfish" camp, you are more in the "regular poster" camp, just now... just there, being very helpful, adding a vote, showing that you are more than just a number...
I still say, that you may have a go at beginning your own Thread. Do not fret if it recieves no replies or is very short... we have all "been there" (!)... and to close this reply, I was thinking that it must have been hard for yourself to locate another Thread relevant in which to Post THAT concern...? That worry would also have made a pretty good Thread Title. (Internet Self versus Real Self, or something...)
Keep on keeping on, stay comfortable here (on this Forum), and Fair Play to you.
I forgot to put I was diagnosed Sep 1997! Outpatient by Dr [removed by Moderator], who didn't offer me any aftercare and the community living scheme I was in was later shut down in 2001 after I had money stolen,I was abused by the manager so I questioned my original diagnosis and went to [removed by Moderator] in 2010. Oh the professor was so rude! There was a team and I didn't like the after reports.Ive ripped them up because they make me negative.I won't ever be a mother,a wife nothing and so I just sit about alone watching TV it's easier
I don’t think you sound selfish at all.
People, have you noticed my posts?
I just realized.
Do I sound selfish in them?
Hi shed_sage, nothing selfish at all in wanting to know what we have available.
Like services for everyone, whether they are adults or children on the spectrum, parents or professionals, we don't have the resources to provide support everywhere or as much as we'd like to.
However, you can see what is available to adults through this section on the website -
http://www.autism.org.uk/our-services/services-for-people-with-autism.aspx
And if you're looking for what services are available in your local area, rather than our services alone, then we'd suggest searching the Autism Services Directory -
http://www.autism.org.uk/directory.aspx
And you may also want to call our Community Care Service to speak with someone about accessing help you may benefit from locally -
http://www.autism.org.uk/Our-services/Advice-and-information-services/Community-care-service.aspx
But just wanted to put that up as an outline, it'd be really interesting to hear if people feel services are available to them or what services, outside of this website, they may have accessed.
