Can anyone tell me how to delete my account here? I can't see it in the FAQ or the account settings.
Hi
Can anyone tell me how to delete my account here? I can't see it in the FAQ or the account settings.
Firstly thank you to everyone for your kind and supportive comments.
I've decided to take a break from being here.
I feel that this is primarily a place for parents and carers to ask for help or vent their frustrations. As an autistic adult trying to hold on to a positive self image that is hard to be around. Everyday there are three or four more people talking about their troubles and problems with a child just like I used to be. Frequently i find their attitudes and approach so out of tune with what i would have found helpful as a child that there's no way I could say anything without giving offence. I think of the poor child and want to weep.
I don't think the NAS do anything like as much as they could to support and develop autistic adults. Where is the peer mentoring programme, where is a realistic programme to get autistic adults into work, where is the programme to promote awareness?
There isn't even a board here just for autistic people so we can go straight there to chat and not have to wade through students wanting to use us as research fodder or bewildered parents wanting to vent. We can't be used as a support resource for non-autistic people if we get no support ourselves.
I'm sure I'll be back at some point.
Best wishes.
