Autism and ACL injury

My son is 21 and is serverly autistic, non verbal and hurt he's ACL after an accident on the trampoline a year ago and hasn't walked since. He now has a fear of walking again as he has physically fit from the injury so appears it's more of a psychological issue.

Any advice or help would be appreciated, we just need more ideas of things we can do. This may of happened to someone else before us ?

Please help !

  • Maybe you could break it down into tiny little stages.  For example starting off just putting his feet flat on the floor when sitting and thinking about how that feels, then doing that when standing still with support: does it feel strange to him?

What would be good for him about walking, and what would be bad?  Maybe walking would also mean other things would change?
