When did films become movies?

  • Does anyone ever try and bathe in "the bathroom" or sleep in "the restroom"?

Yes! It’s called a bathroom because that is usually where you’ll find a bathtub or shower. That’s why it’s usually used in a private ownership context. As for restroom… idk. I mean, I’ve heard that female restrooms often have a couch or chair, I presume for nursing purposes. From an Autistic perspective, the restroom is where I usually get a brief respite from social interaction (so long as an elderly man or drunkard doesn’t forget the rule to not speak while next to someone at a urinal).

Loo comes from gardez l'voux, or guard your person as chamber pots were emptied out of windows and into the streets in medieval London.

The United Kingdom accepting a French term into their native dialect? What a monstrous invasion!

As a side note: French is actually my least favorite language. A lot of Americans romanticize it (it’s offered just as much in high schools as a second language as Spanish is, even though there’s practically no use for it here on USA soil), but in choir I despised singing in French. Italian is beautiful, German is wonderful, English is monstrous, Portuguese/Spanish is fun, but French is overall subpar in every way in my opinion.
