Hate and unconstitutional thinking taking over

I know, nobody wants to talk about politics and that‘s not what I‘m here to do. 
There was a pretty defining vote in one of the Bundesländer of Germany and the results are… Well, today I am ashamed to be German.

I do not get why people vote for a party that is officially deemed "right-wing extremist“ and wants to destroy the pillars of democracy for personal profits and ideologies. 
Sorry to dampen the mood, but as someone that needs the world to stay open minded, I worry. I cried this morning and I fear for the future. My sense of justice screams for me to get away while I am to start my six years of university soon. The future seems to be a Germany where I do not want to live and right now I honestly do not know what to do.

How do you deal with the world getting more hateful and narrow-minded? What helps you to see things in perspective (preferably a perspective that doesn‘t make me weep)?

  • I think you've got to ask why we are seeing the rise of these what are terned "extreme right-wing" parties in Europe nowadays.Usually, there are pre-existing conditions that provide the breeding grounds such parties to develop and in this case, I think it's because the political balance between the right and left has become distorted over recent years and many people who are note particularly woke -minded or have socialist attitudes feel they no longer have a voice through the existing political party system, so turn to those who appear to offer a fresh approach. We've seen this in the UK with the rise of the Reform party since the traditional two-party system that has been going since the first world war has essentially broken down and focused mainly on the trying to please everyone, while displeasing many.
