About different breakfasts

Since retiring, I've had time to spend making creative breakfasts. I recorded these in my Journal for six months, with different things every day. I was surprised how easy it was. For example, humble beans on toast can be flavoured in many ways [soy, brown sauce, red sauce, curry paste & raisins]. I watched a Ruth Goodman documentary about Victorian breakfasts and it was a heart attack on a plate, a banquet that included kippers, kidneys, sausages, mushrooms and eggs in several ways. My favourites now are 'something on toast' [beans, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms], bitesize shredded wheat with banana, followed by fresh fruit and homemade yoghurt. I enjoy kippers but difficulty disposing of the skin and the smell makes this a rarity.

What are your 'go to' breakfasts? Do you eat early or late [brunch]. Do you like the same things every day or a variety?

Parents
  • I like routine so it's the same breakfast for me each day which is raspberry Country Crisp from which I remove the raspberries.

It is occasionally followed by toasted sourdough bread and butter.

  • raspberry Country Crisp from which I remove the raspberries.

This reminds me of a friend who was later diagnosed autistic, as was I.

We went to a cafe many moons ago and he asked for a 'cheese and ham toastie without the cheese'.

The waitress said 'so you want a ham toastie' and he said 'yes, but that's not on the menu'.

    Relaxed

  • This is very like my daughter, at the motorway services, was able to order from the big touch screen things, a bacon double cheeseburger without the cheese as it was an tick-box option. It's just a shame you can't order it without the bun too, as she refuses to eat those too!

I used to have to remove the fruit out of granola for her too, before we discovered they brought out a plain granola which made life easier.
